Dallas has some of the oldest housing stock we work on. East Dallas and Lake Highlands are full of homes built between the 1940s and 1970s, where central air was added long after the house went up. That retrofit history is the single biggest predictor of comfort problems here.

The pattern repeats: duct work run through an unconditioned attic with minimal insulation, a return air path that was never enlarged when the system was upsized, and an air handler wedged into a closet with no room to service it. The equipment gets blamed, but the delivery system is usually the actual fault.

That is why we test static pressure before quoting a replacement in Dallas. Dropping a new condenser onto ducts that cannot carry the airflow gets you a quieter unit and the same warm back bedroom. We would rather tell you that before you spend the money.
